Doorstop sandwiches & proper tea & coffee

A small coffee house and tea room for walkers, cyclists and locals. Hot food and a pot of tea through the day, and booked afternoon tea at two sittings. The kettle is always on.

Open 9am–4pm daily, April to September.

Through the day

Breakfast and coffee from nine. Doorstop sandwiches, soup and cake through lunch and the afternoon. Bread from the local baker; ham, cheese and butter from named producers down the valley.

Cut thick on cob or bloomer. Fillings change with what the producers bring.

Brews

Loose-leaf tea by the pot — Assam, Darjeeling, Earl Grey, Lapsang Souchong, and a house Peak blend. Coffee made properly.

Afternoon tea, at two or four

Finger sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream, a small selection of cakes and patisserie, and a pot of loose-leaf tea of your choice. Booked two working days ahead, seated at one of two sittings.

Finding us, and what to know

OPENING HOURS

9am–4pm daily, April to September. 9am–3pm, closed Mondays, October to March.

TABLE SERVICE

Walk-ins only through the day, no bookings. We take walk-ins when we have capacity, so there may be a short wait at busy times.

DOGS

Dogs welcome under the table, water bowls provided.

WALKING BOOTS

Leave them on if you like.

PARKING

Free street parking nearby. No on-site car park.
